Levi  Strauss & Co just recently launched the “Give them hope Now” Campaign. This campaign is to raise money for the Hetrick-Martin Institue, which is a non profit organization that that supports the Harvey Milk High School. As you can imagine the Harvey Milk High School is dedicated to support and help gays, lesbians, transgenders, and bisexuals during there time of need. They like to think of themselves as a school that is there for them when their family isnt. When their family kicks them out of there houses and wont support them. The school provides after school support groups and support services. At first when i viewed the ad i was unclear of what the message was for…Here is one of the commercials… What are your thoughts can you tell what it is for?? Also with Levis supporting a messsage like this do you think that people that are againt gay marriage and are homophobic may stay away from a company like this and stay away from purchasing their products? they have gone about delivering this message in a very modern way Rob Toledo, senior account director, Razorfish, Seattle says “We’ve put together a very impactful social media outreach strategy. We’ll be reaching out to bloggers and like-minded organizations and people in the LGBT community,” Do you think they did this because this topic is more of a modern issue and traditionalist might not agree and therefor they figured they could reach more of there target market? or because it cost less to get the message out??

I loved this commercial because it is so brutally honest. Online bullying occurs every where and the worst part is people can make up anything and everyone thinks its true. The same person can write mean thing after mean thing about you and since its online and anonymous the victim believes that it is coming from a lot of different people. One website that is well known for only talking bad about people is juicycampus.com. This commercial shows how comments on that website are just as mean as if you were saying them in person. This ad carries a positive message that we all should follow and with this blog starting i think it shows how we should respect everyones comments and only respond in ways that you would respond to them in person.

Boost Mobiles long armpit hair

Posted by: Brittany Atha | Comments (0)

This commerical by Boost Mobile just seems very irrelevant and the first time i saw it i was extremely grossed out. At the end I See and Get the point but what a STRANGE way to go about that. Is it really necessary to have a girl with armpit hair 10 ft long waving in some guys face saying this isnt wrong but paying to much for you cell phone is, its called personaly hygine and it is not normal in our society to have long armpit hair. We might have understood the humor of long armpit hair if the commerical was atleat for a product that dealt with personal hygine. Who do you think their demographic was for this ad?? If it was the shock effect they were going for it sure worked but not in a good way it shocked the people from wanting to hear anymore about this product!!!!

octuplets-mom-asks-for-donationsThis article before getting to this point discussed the mother of the Octuplets and how obvious it is that she only had this many kids in order to become famous and to be “Sponsored” by all different types of brands that want to be seen. But what are these brands Supporting??? This woman is in NO place to be having 8 more kids after she already has 6 under the age of 8 and does not have a stable life. However it seems like anyone will do anything to get a free ride these days and as a brand this is not the things that we want to be promoting! “And, hey, TLC? You need to think about what, exactly, you’re selling.” adage If the family needs thing donate it to give them these objects that they need but you do not need to be putting your name with these products! What are yalls thoughts should brands support the mom of the Octuplets????

I just read this article, “Working Fast and Brillant is the Challenge for Creatives Today” it talks about how advertisers use to have lots of time to do create their ads making there ads worth more. However, now days if you wont do it fast they will find someone else that will and that will be willing to be paid less. You cant ask for more time as an advertiser, everything is go go go. Since there is less time being spent on creating these ads do you think the quality of that ad will be sacrificed? And at the same time do you think that more ethical issues will arise wit this because sometime it is easier to do an add that doesn’t hold to our ethical standards? I Feel as if the quality of our ads will suffer a lot if we keep this trend of faster faster faster… sometimes the best things take a little while to come across, especially in the world that we live in today it might be better if we slow down and take the time to make an ad with a positive meaning behind it.

Computer Tan

Posted by: Brittany Atha | Comments (2)

I found this commercial on adcritic.com it is advertising a fake product called “computerTan.com” it was made for Skcin (the Karen Clifford Skin Cancer Chairty) and when you go to the website to get your “Free Tan” it is actually a website about this fake product it is not tell you go for your free trial, does it tell you the actual purpose of the site… that UV rays kill and to not be fooled. Once I got to the message of this fake product it was very powerful however, at the same time I felt like it took a little long to get there because I don’t know how many people would have clicked through to get their free trial. Even though the ad was pretty sarcastic and unrealistic to the point where people should understand that it wasn’t a real advertisment you never know and when they go to the website it looks pretty legit telling you about the products. The Overall meaning of the ad was great but I really think that it shouldn’t take so long to figure out the message.
Do you think it took to long to get to the point?
