Excretion Vision

After seeing the photos Elizabeth posted creating awareness about environmental destruction, I thought I would try and find some good ones too.

However, when I came across this ad, I almost threw up. However it does get its point across. It may be over the top but sometimes that’s what you need to grab peoples attention.

This ad was done by the Greenfamily Youth Association of Environment Protection, who wants to bring attention to the fact that some places are still     being polluted. They hope to “make people aware of the                                                                                                     environmental protection issue.” And I think they will                                                                                                       do very good job of that if enough people are exposed.

To me these ads are foul. These ads have an impact for a walk down the street, but nothing that would influence me to change my environmental habits. It is important for an advertisement for environmental issues to have more than a shock value. While it makes us aware and gives us something to tell a friend about, it might not make an actual change in the way we treat our environment.

HAHA I love this. It is terribly disgusting, yet effective. I like shock value PSA type ads. They definitely make you think from a different perspective about issues that usually are harped on, ie don’t smoke it’s bad for you, or don’t pollute it’s bad for the earth. I like these ads because they are creative and different.

Christina I agree, people are so overloaded with messages promoting ‘going green’ and efforts to save the environment. In order for environmentalists to actually make an impact, they have to do something this outraging and eye catching. Because of all the clutter these days things have to be over the top if they want attention.

I certainly to think this ad is very eye catching and gives me the desire to want to read it or at least see what its about. Yet at the same time I feel that this ad is taking a very serious issue and making it seem more light-hearted and almost humorous, although clearly not their intention. It reminds me of something a very intelligent middle school boy would do if given the assignment to advertise an environmental issue. I do admit that I think its clever but the fact that I kind of laugh at it makes me feel like its not enough to get people to change their actions.
