If you wouldn’t say it in person then don’t write it.
By Brittany AthaI loved this commercial because it is so brutally honest. Online bullying occurs every where and the worst part is people can make up anything and everyone thinks its true. The same person can write mean thing after mean thing about you and since its online and anonymous the victim believes that it is coming from a lot of different people. One website that is well known for only talking bad about people is juicycampus.com. This commercial shows how comments on that website are just as mean as if you were saying them in person. This ad carries a positive message that we all should follow and with this blog starting i think it shows how we should respect everyones comments and only respond in ways that you would respond to them in person.

This type of advertising is simple and powerful! It reminds us to think about our behavior and question the status quo. Something we think is acceptable online, we would never do face-to-face.
Let’s make an honor roll of advertising.

Do you know if this is a commercial to simply play on the internet of if it can also be seen on TV? I love the message at the end because it was completely not what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be something about how kids treat other kids in terrible ways because they dont know better or something along those lines. I think it is more powerful that you dont expect that message. I also think that cyber bullying occurs among people of all ages, so it is to show adults that are doing that their behavior is immature and childish. Great ad!

This is a great ad. I saw it a while back, and it really hit me! This was a great way to show the emotional effects of words. I think everyone, especially children, doesn’t understand the effect of their words. Look at the case of cyber bullying that led to that girl committing suicide? If the person who started that would have seen this ad maybe it would have made a difference.

Bravo, Ad Council! What a straightforward, yet highly compelling and persuasive way to convey such an important message.
Words are powerful… they can have a profound affect on people of any age, but especially children and teens who are still developing their self-image. This commercial is a excellent depiction of the impact of words.
What a PERFECT example of virtuous advertising!
